Born in Montreal, Canada in 1949, his high school art professors were taken with his inate talents of producing classroom scenes of Christmas and Easter … Allowing him to dream of becoming painter, his teachers and others admired his work on automobiles, motorcycles, clothes, greeting cards.










HERE'S HIS STORY …

1970-1976

He would spend his weekends painting on velvet canvas and produced and sold over 300 works of animals and human faces. He attempted to leave his job to devote all of his time painting but was not unable to make a decent living.

1976-1977

He moved to British Colombia and completing over 100 murals in homes, hotels, restaurants, church and exterior walls of commercial buildings. In 1986, the city of Gascon, British Colombia allowed him the first prize for one of these murals.

1978-1979

He returned to Montreal and Magog, Quebec, he painted and sold over 100 works… animals, portraits, reproductions of the Grand Masters and also murals. At the end of 1979, he was injured in a motorcycle accident and resumed his canvases in 1981.

1981-1990

He completed a collection 50 canvasses devoted to John Lennon. He also completed a serie of serigraphs about the famous “BED-IN” in Montreal with John and Yoko Ono at the Queen Elizabeth hotel. Yoko Ono still has one of the original sets and two others were presented to the audience during the concert “A tribute to Lennon” done in England in 1990. In 1983 he completed a fabulous canvas of racecar driver Gilles Villeneuve witch was exhibited at Villeneuve funerals after his tragic death on the track in Belgium. He also completed his famous portrait of “Napoleon” witch was shown at many galleries and hotels in Quebec city … and was sold for a pittance to allow this talented starving artist to make a living. He completed a magnificent canvas of Pope John II that was presented to the Pope by one of his clients and is still being shown in the Vatican’s Art of Museum. On a religious theme, he did a wonderful mural depicting the Baptism of Christ for a Montreal Church. From 1983 to 1990 he crisscrossed Canada from Montreal to British Colombia and painted 100’s of paintings and murals.

1991-1995

He returned to Quebec and painted portraits, animals and various other subjects includind a theme devoted to rock-in-roll.

1996

He did the serie of canvasses devoted to famous figures in the world of music, poetry and politics called “SIX FABS”. They included, Rossini, Liszt, Mozart, Beethoven, Schiller and Bismarck. This series was sold in the Province of Quebec in 2008. (Take a special look in his portfolio for the “SIX FABS”)

1997-1998

He won the coveted “Prize of the Public” for a painting of an automobile, part of a serie of 12. He also painted a serie of canvasses paying homage to Lady Di, Marie-Soleil Tougas and numerous stars of rock-in-roll.

2005

He painted a very large canvas ( 4 feet by 4 feet) of Brother André in honnor of this great man and famous Quebecer.

2007

In 2007 his famous collection of 12 motorcycles was completed. He started his second “Napoleon Banaparte”, a reproduction of the master peace of “DAVID” that hangs at the Louvres in Paris. This work measures 3 feet by 4 feet and required hundreds of hours of labour in the all important finishing touches. It is his finest work ever. (Please see in portfolio portion of this website.)

2008

As of 2008, Robert Johnson has done and sold over 1 200 paintings and murals. One of his most serious ambitions is to paint reproduction of the worlds Grand Masters and serigraphs, lithos of his magnificent repertoire. He is available for private commission for any special work.

2009

Paintings paint by artist painter Robert, Michaël Jackson, 3' X 4', this painting takes 7 months of hard work. Also Jean Béliveau, three paintings of a white horse, painting of three wolfs, two paintings of football players from the team of the Steelers of Pittsburgh and three landscape paintings of sunshine sunset.

2010

Paintings paint in 2010, Jean Béliveau, Maurice Richard, Guy Lafleur, Maurice Richard and Jean Béliveau together on the same painting, Patrick Roy, Sidney Crosby, Patrick Roy, Emile Bouchard. A wonderful painting of the Holy Brother Andrew near the Holy Joseph Oratory and finaly Michaël Jackson dancing with the stars.

2011-2012

Since 2 years, the Artist painter Robert Johnson is only painting horses, a great passion and a wonderful horses collection.
